After attending an “Implementing SAFe®” class and passing the SAFe® Practice Consultant (SPC) exam, trainers were previously allowed to teach all SAFe® courses except Implementing SAFe® and RTE (as public training). The latter two courses have always been reserved for SAFe® SPCTs.
Scaled Agile Inc. is now changing the training authorization so that it only includes the following SAFe® basic training courses for SPCs:
- Leading SAFe®
- Leading SAFe® for Government
- SAFe® for Teams
- SAFe® Scrum Master
- SAFe® PO/PM
- SAFe® for DevOps
- SAFe® for Hardware
- Agile Software Engineering
- SAFe® for Architects
- No ASPC certificate is now required for APMs (SAFe® Agile Product Management (APM))
In addition to the SPC certificate, the additional Advanced SPC (ASPC) qualification will be required for SAFe® Advanced training courses in future:
- SAFe® Advanced Scrum Master (learning path)
- SAFe® Lean Portfolio Management
- SAFe® Release Train Engineer (Inhouse)
Modular learning journey for in-depth skills
This ASPC course is designed as a modular learning journey to build up and prove additional SAFe® knowledge in order to be able to conduct the above-mentioned advanced trainings in high quality and with broad background knowledge.
KEGON will be offering various ASPC classes over the next few weeks to help existing SPCs quickly regain full trainer authorization.
The dates of the individual modules are always offered as a series on Monday or Friday afternoons. Attendance of all modules and the final event is required for admission to the examination.
If you are unable to attend a module, KEGON offers the opportunity to make up for this and the final event in a later series.
The dates can be found in the KEGON Academy training calendar.
Deadlines for ASPC certification
Scaled Agile Inc. has now extended the training policy for already certified SPCs until June 3, 2026. This means that until this date, existing SPCs may also give the courses (LPM, RTE, SASM) without ASPC. After this date, successful ASPC certification will be required in order to continue teaching the above-mentioned SAFe® Advanced courses as a trainer.
Additional information can be found here on this SAI info page.
