A leading IT service provider in the public sector is driving forward the company-wide introduction of Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe®) with the support of KEGON and establishing a sustainably effective agile organizational structure through targeted management development, strategic portfolio workshops, and a comprehensive training and coaching program.
The customer
A large IT service provider in the public sector has been responsible for the digitization, development, and operation of modern specialist applications and the digital workplace for several social security institutions for over 25 years. The company provides central IT services—from the development of future-proof applications and the further development of a comprehensive industry solution to the operation of its own high-performance data center. Over 10,000 users throughout Germany use the solutions provided on a daily basis.
The Scaled Agile Framework® (SAFe®) was introduced in application development to successfully implement a far-reaching agile transformation. KEGON is supporting this change with a comprehensive range of training courses, workshops, and coaching.
The KEGON solution
Leadership Development & SAFe® Workshops
KEGON supported the company in particular in the qualification of executives and managers:
- Leading SAFe® training for executives
- SAFe® workshops for IT managers from several social security institutions
- Two SAFe® Executive Workshops for top decision-makers
- SAFe® Lean Portfolio Management Training
- Two SAFe® workshops for executives in the context of a cross-organizational transformation program
A total of approximately 100 employees participated in these training courses and workshops between 2022 and 2025.
Strategic SAFe® workshops for management and IT leadership
As part of an organization-wide development program, KEGON designed and implemented multi-day workshops for management and portfolio levels. The content included:
- Communication of the SAFe® Big Picture
- Lean portfolio management & financial control mechanisms
- From strategy to portfolio to implementation at team level
- Joint alignment of programs, areas, and roles in the SAFe® context
The workshops took place at several locations and addressed key decision-makers within the company.
Various SAFe® training courses & coaching transformation
Since 2026, KEGON has been supporting the internal Lean Agile Center of Excellence (LACE) as part of a long-term consulting and training contract:
- Planning, implementation, and follow-up of all SAFe® training courses
- Coaching and strategic consulting for the further development of the agile organization
- Support for agile rollouts in various areas of the company
- Creation of SAFe® compliant training materials
- Evaluation of training courses and derivation of recommendations for action
