The customer

The large European logistics company faced the challenge of introducing scaled agility across the board in an area with over 2,000 employees, after several initial pilot projects had already implemented agility with great success.

The Scaled Agile Framework formed the basis for the implementation. The rollout took place in several waves. First, business processes were used to identify areas with 400 to 500 employees whose sub-processes were highly interdependent. These areas were transferred to Agile Release Trains, which were coordinated in a Solution Train. The ARTs were launched in accordance with the SAFe® Implementation Roadmap.

The transformation of each Solution Train was driven by its own LACE team (Lean Agile Center of Excellence), which was permanently assigned to that Solution Train. The overall coordination of the agile transformation was carried out by the “LACE of LACE” team, which was in constant communication with the individual LACE teams through a “hub-and-spoke” model.
