From Uncertain Planning to a Robust Roadmap: How Hilscher Used Agile Collaboration to Sustainably Improve Delivery Capability, Transparency, and Cross-Functional Decision-Making.
Initial situation
Extremely volatile supply chains caused by a disruptive market environment, coupled with high customer demand for industrial communication solutions, had put the organization in a situation where it was virtually impossible to develop reliable medium- and long-term plans.
Internal roadmaps were based on overly rigid models that no longer fit the increasingly fast-paced market environment. The task was to use regular cross-functional planning sessions to rebuild the organization’s delivery and planning capabilities. This marked the start of an ongoing agile transformation.
By introducing scaled agile principles, such as decentralized decision-making and practices—including regular large-scale planning sessions—the goal was also to strengthen cross-functional decision-making processes within the management team and prepare the organization for its ongoing growth trajectory.

Result/goal
After three months, the departments involved were able to jointly develop and deliver a quarterly plan. This served as the basis for a reliable product and technology roadmap, which led to better and more targeted communication with customers.
Thanks to clearer prioritization and a cross-departmental focus on completing tasks together, turnaround times were reduced and the efficiency of internal collaboration was improved.
“The transformation has helped us integrate our business, products, and technology in a much more systematic way. This enables us to set priorities more clearly, identify dependencies earlier, and align our development more reliably and agilely with our customers’ needs. For Hilscher, this was an important step toward managing our product and technology roadmap more effectively, fulfilling customer commitments more reliably, and preparing the organization for further growth.”
